bandgeekmafia78 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Hi, I've got a Sharepoint Server which I need to publish in ISA 2006 to allow Ramesys to RDP and ICMP to it. Before I can do that, I need to assign a static external IP to it. I've been given an external IP by our ISP, but I'm not sure how to assign the Sharepoint Server with the IP. Does that make sense? At present, the Server has 2 Local Area Connections, both with internal IP's. Is it just a case of changing one of these from the internal to external IP address/mask/gateway or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks!
jamesb Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 If you want to publish it through ISA to allow them in, rather than just publishing it directly, then you'll want to assign the external IP address to the ISA server and forward requests from there to the SharePoint server. Assigning the external IP to the SharePoint server itself and publishing it directly to the internet for RDP could be a little risky.

jamesb Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Yep. Either assigning it to another network card, or even to the same one, and telling ISA to forward requests for that IP address (with appropriate filtering of course).

EDIT: I've got it set up so I can RDP internally to the Sharepoint Server with the External IP address, but it doesn't seem to work outside of the network... ? I'll figure it out eventually I hope!
