It's our new filtering engine, which is slowly creeping out the door - public betas due to start ASAP. It will come as parrt of the existing smoothwall lineup, but offers a lot more than the existing filter. For example, there's now full who/what/where/when filtering, so you can get as detailed as you need on policies which are completely re-orderable so you chose the importance of each rule. There's also the long awaited "multi group" function, allowing a user to be effectively filtered as a member of two groups. Add to that some performance increases, a new auth front-end with "auth-method by subnet", an easier to use GUI... should be FUN.

 

Does it have an RSOP type thing where you can see the cumulative sum of all policies on a particular group? i.e. select KS3, see the result of Default AUP + KS3 filter + Custom Blocked + KS3 Blocked etc. etc.

Especially if it comes with a lookup function, i.e. type in a URL and Smoothwall comes back with "Computer says yes/no" - would be less faff than using local users to switch the group I'm in to test.

 

If you have somewhere good for suggestions I have a few other things I should mention before I forget them

There is indeed an easier method on G3. It involves fewer steps, but some more advanced features.
