Bulk Remove Users from OU?

Now, I've moved all our yeargroups around and promoted the years upwards in AD. We have a separate OU for each of our years.

 

So - for example - I've bulk-moved the Year 8s to Year 9, but I'm stuck. The new Year 9s are currently members of both Year 8 and Year 9 OUs.

 

Is there a quick way to remove all the Year 9s from the Year 8 group membership? I can see "add to group" but not a bulk "remove"!!!!

View the members of the group, from the properties of the *group* itself. That way you can remove them in bulk.

Either I'm being blind, or I can't see the members of the group from the group properties...

2000 or 2003 admin tools? Find the group in AD, right click on it, properties. One of the tabs I have is "members". Click on the top one, scroll to the bottom, hold shift, click on the bottom one, click remove.

We don't need to 'promote' our users every year because we name the groups and OUs after their year of enrollment, ie the new year 7s group will be called 'Year06'. That way, you never need to move them out of that group. Same with the document shares.

 

If you need to change their level of privileges you just need to chenge the Group Policy.

Mine are the same OUs are just labled 00, 01, 02, 03 etc. I don't assign them to specific groups for years and just have a general student group.

I'd have liked ours to be that way, although when my little voice piped its suggestions up when the 2k3 system went in last year, all suggestions seemed blatantly ignored...

We also do a similar thing to this only we use 'Entry06' for our new kids, this way we keep a tab on what year they are in and also have no need to move them around each year.

here we use 7 colours and their username is prefaced with that colour. So for example last years Upper 6th were White so this years first years will be White. All other years will keep they're colours.

We just use year of entry and so don't have to make any changes year on year.

[users have to have 5 characters [plus up to 3 figure numbers] to make up thier user name that fits the maximum username length in Squirrell of 8 characters]
