Exchange 2007 Database Roll-Back

Long story short, our Exchange 2007 Server has had a major stuff around and the latest backup was from July 31st.

 

What I want to know is, if I bring that online, will everyone with Cached outlook setups sync back or forward?

In other words, will everything they have cached after the 31st of July disappear because it'll assume the Exchange copy is newer? or will it put everything in their cached outlook into the database?

 

This is the difference between me having to go to every user with a laptop/desktop PC and exporting their outlook to PST before bringing the exchange server online...

To anybody interested or experiencing the same dilemma:

 

Everything in Outlook from after 31st July DID get deleted.

Good thing I did go to everyone and create a manual backup!

Was the database easy to restore? I've always wondered what would happen in a disaster recovery scenario.

 

Thanks for letting us know anyway, its not a nice thing to have to do.

 

How did you get the users to take a backup?
