Hi Guys

 

I've been playing with webdav and have got it working and can access it on the Schools LEA network ie. from another School in the LEA, How do you get it working for staff to access it at home?

You'll need a public IP set up to point to the server hosting it.

Remember though IE8 does not have webdav folder support. You have to manually map drives to get that to work as a FYI

sorry should have mentioned that the Public IP is what i've being trying to get it to work with

I havn't rolled it out to staff yet, the problem I have is if I use the internal IP adress say

"10.220.1.1/shared" it works fine in school and even anywhere else on the LEA ie. different school (tested on several) but if I use the external facing IP say "192.60.2.1/shared" I get nothing..

 

I can remote to "192.60.2.1" but can't connect webdav or ping?

This is likely a firewall issue - ie. the port is being blocked by your ISP (the LEA or the RBC).

Probably can't ping because most folks turn that off, but it would be worth confirming that the required webdav access ports have been applied to the firewall config.

WebDAV uses port 80, the same port used by HTTP for web access would any other ports need to be open?

No idea then I'm afraid; I've only used Webdav securely over 443.

What firewall do you have doing your routing or is it hosted on the same box?

Does normal port 80 traffic work?

What webserver are you using?

If you give us a rough lowdown of your setup I am sure we can find the cause.
