Dell Studio One all in one PC

Has anybody got any experience of these beasts please?

 

Dell Studio One 19 Desktop

 

For reasons too ridiculous to go into, we need some machines with very small footprints, but with a decent spec (so not just the guts of a netbook bolted to the back of a TFT).

 

These Dells (the basic, non-touchscreen model) seem to fit the bill but it would be nice to have some reassurance that they're not junk!

we had a test unit in last week and I have to say they not only look slick but are nice and smooth operating also, if you would like a quote give me a shout:cool:

Cheers Simon, I've got a couple of questions you might be able to help with:

 

Does the stand detatch, or will it be suitable for looping a security chain through?

 

Is getting inside them to do RAM upgrades and hard drive swaps (when out of warranty) as much of a pain in the backside as I'm anticipating?

Thanks for those options, the Dell I'm looking at has the edge on pricing on both of those - the list price of those HPs looks a bit ambitious!

Both Lenovo and HP do All in One mounts which you can attach a screen and mount one of there Ultra small form factor units into a nice PC with a small footprint. They are not quite as eligant as the Dell Studio One but they will be much much easier to work on.

Presumably by "work on" he means "take to bits"

Because the guts are not stuffed deep inside the same base as the monitor, imac style and if the screen pokes out you can just attach a new one, and of course you have the option of detaching the base unit as well if you would like and putting it somewhere else if you require. The lenovo units are also screwless and open up so you can get to everything inside nice and easy.

Indeed, anyone that has ever had to open up and emac or imac will know what i mean. Nightmare!
