[ghost] Blue screen on reboot after ghosting

Ive started imaging my Netbooks. The image was made whilst i had an engineer in a quite happily went onto the netbook. Now i've just tried to image 2, the ghost session is said to be successful, but when they reboot they get as far as the windows logo and the BSOD.

 

Any ideas what i could be, what im doing wrong or why its decided it doesnt want to play...

Yeah if you can give us the BSOD error that would help, or is it just flicking off straight away?

The most common cause of this I've seen is hard drive SATA mode setting. Willing to bet the image was made with the SATA mode set to legacy/IDE/emulation and by default the netbooks are set to native mode.

 

This is usually changed because it's easier to set SATA to legacy mode than faff about trying to install SATA drivers when installing XP (press [F6] and all that rubbish).

 

Try going into the BIOS and changing the SATA mode. You don't need to bring a new image down. You'll probably find it's boot fine, no BSOD, after you made the change.

ah right, that's annoying!! sounds like it hasn't imaged properly something has corrupted along the lines i think.

 

Can you create a new build for the netbooks with just the windows installation and drivers and try again.

 

I have heard of the SATA mode setting in the BIOS causing some problems, but cant for the life of me remember what it was now. you had to change it to something. let me have a think! i've just change my SATA mode to compatabilty as that was the only other option....it looks hopeful!!!!

This happened to us a year or go, bought new hp laptops, created the image fine, went to do deploy the image to the other laptops and BSOD ??

 

Speaking to HP on a different case, i mentioned it to the chap who said to turn on the native mode or something like that and jobs a good-un
