HP dx2450 Wake on lan (WOL) problems

Hi,

 

I have 220 HP dx2450's (business desktops) - I have potentially a rather large problem...

I need WOL enabled or a scheduled startup, so that the PCs are started in advance of staff and students arriving - so as to update policies and AV, etc.

WOL doesn't seem to be an option to enable in the BIOS. Although in the properties of the onboard network card (NVIDIA nforce) and my pci-express NIC (Via Velocity), the option is there and enabled! :(Does anyone have any ideas as to why this wouldn't work? or if there are any alternatives to scheduling a PC to start up from cold-boot (not standby or hibernation) - again, there is not option in the bios for a scheduled startup.

Is there an option in the BIOS to automically boot the machines?

 

We use this for our Dell machine has we have had problems using WOL over v-lans

Check under the advanced driver properties in windows device manager for the card. This is often set from inside the driver rather than the BIOS on some models of computer.

I've tried all of these, and although the settings are there in the properties and set, they just don't seem to work!

Any other ideas?

I know this is not machine-specific, as I have 220 with the same problem...
