Rack Mount Kit for Dell Poweredge 1900

Morning all,

 

The title says it all really, I'm after a rack mount kit for our Dell Poweredge 1900. Spoke to Dell direct.....truly useless.

 

Let me know your prices :-), sooner I get pricing, the sooner I'll be looking to purchase.

I thought the 1900's where only tower based? If you have a tower one you cant rack it

Nope I had 1950's. Rack mounts the lot.

The 1950's are are rackmount we have some. When my old school purchased some 1900's they only offered them in tower form.

 

If you are thinking along the lines of what you could do with the Poweredge 2600 and easly turn it into a rack server from a tower and vise versa it is not possible.

Which model 1900 Ian as Zak is correct in saying the 1900 is not rack mountable,

If it is simply the 1900 it cant be racked. However if he has a 1950, it is a 1U rackmount. No idea why they have done this.

Thanks for your responses. It is just the 1900 tower that I have. When I spoke to Dell yesterday, I was told that the rack mount kit is available, but they have sold out, and gave me the number of a firm that will sell them. Spoke to said firm today, who tell me that Dell are talking rubbish, and my best option is a shelf or some sort of third party rack mount kit.

BOth are right.

 

There is a kit available for the 1900 but all it does in add brackets to the front and back to allow you to "bolt" the server into the shelf

 

I would build a shelf into the rack with sliders and place the server on the rack
