Change SMS tone on HERO (G2)

Morning all.

 

Just received my Hero, aka T Mobile G2 and it's lovely.

 

I can't work out how to change the default message tones though. I want to change the text tone.

 

I've tried changing the default tone in settings but it seems to ignore this.

 

Does anyone know how to do it?

Also, how do you lock the screen?

to change the default sms tone select the messages icon on the home screen. Press the menu key then select settings. Scroll down to the notification settings section, press select sound. There you can choose the one you like.

 

To lock the screen just press the power key to turn the screen off. Press again to turn back on and the phone will be locked.

if you dont like any of the default sounds.. and want to add your own... create a folder called 'notifications' on the root of your sd card and drop the wav or mp3 in it. you can also create 'ringtones' and 'alarms'

 

I have the Samsung Galaxy i7500 Android phone
