Moodle Links with Live@edu -- Campus Technology

 

Microsoft is bringing its widely adopted Live@edu collaboration suite to Moodle, the open source learning management system (LMS) that's installed at more than 35,000 registered, validated sites worldwide. Microsoft also unveiled today its new Education Labs site, which will serve as a repository for education software developed on an accelerated cycle.

 

Live@edu Plugs In to Moodle

Through a new plugin developed by Microsoft and released today, Moodle users will be able to take direct advantage of Live@edu features, including calendaring, search, e-mail, shared workspaces, storage, and instant messaging.

Google Apps Education Edition™ Integration

Moodlerooms and Google have worked together to build a state of the art integration. The 1.0 version of the integration provides:

 

* Automatic creation of users in Google Apps (Google Docs™, Google Calendar™, and Gmail™) when they are created in Moodle

 

* Automatic log in to Google Apps when a user logs in to Moodle

 

* A Gmail block in Moodle that displays latest Gmail messages on the Moodle Front Page

 

* A Google Apps block on the Moodle Front Page displays links to Google Start Page, Google Docs, Google Calendar and Gmail

 

* A Moodle app on the Google Apps Start Page

At the recent Learning gateway conference, Microsoft emphasised that Live@edu for Europe would be hosted in Ireland. This maybe something you need to consider if you are planning to use Live@edu or google.
