What are you guys using to turn off your virtual boxes if there is a power failure.

Scripted shutdown at point X (where point X is "I have enough power to safely shut everything down" + roughly 5 minute fudge factor or "internal server temperature reached unacceptable levels" - we don't have air-con on battery power).

 

Determine point X however you like (we use apcupsd on a nagios box which then starts triggering graceful shutdowns for guests, ultimately turns off the host servers and then the san). Powering on again requires manual intervention.

 

Anecdotal evidence for our site is "if the power's off for longer than 10 minutes, it will be off for longer than we have runtime on the UPS" - adjust for your environment.
