woodham Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 well Ive just tried to do the June Upgrade on my test system running SQL2008/sp1 and the march version of sims And it's not playing: reading supportnet you need solus "2.whatever" But the version thats on the ISO is ver 1.19 the install keeps failing with backup failed no_log not supported I cant find docs on supportnet to help and since there fix for locked backups only applies to sql 2005 im stuck Anybody got any ideas? Cheers Andy
f21970 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 SIMS has a problem with locking the database at the moment, and it fails on the backup. To get around the problem you currently need to put the database into single user mode to perform upgrades. Capita have a fix available (I'm installing it tomorrow).
Diello Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 SIMS doesn't support SQL 2008, that's your first problem, so no reason it would work. As for the error... Have you got transaction logging turned off?
f21970 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Good point Diello. 2008 not officially supported until later this year, but I have assumed that upgrades have worked on your test system before?
woodham Posted July 6, 2009 Author Posted July 6, 2009 yep march 09 runs fine on sql2008 will have to try locking sql to single user will report back soon... I know i would not want to be having to jump straight to sql2008 without testing it first ....
woodham Posted July 6, 2009 Author Posted July 6, 2009 nope single user didnt work... looks like im taking sql2008 off and reinstalling my test rig :rolleyes:ho hum
matt40k Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Why would you test something before it's supported? There basically saying it won't work lol!
woodham Posted July 6, 2009 Author Posted July 6, 2009 i was looking at the work that i might have to do over the holidays no biggie will just go back to 2005 but it would have been nice to have 6 weeks to play with sims on sql 2008 rarther than just having it dumped on us in october... teach me to planm ahead....
