JJonas Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 While playing around with CompizConfig Settings Manager and its effects options I managed to set up a set of effects that meant all of drop down menus where blacked out, shortly followed by the whole screen. I managed to recover by following the advice at HowTo : Completely Remove Compiz Fusion Including config files for a clean re-install - Ubuntu Forums (essentially uninstall compiz fusion) but this is a rather long winded way of fixing the problem. Is there not an easy way to revert to my previous settings that worked.
RabbieBurns Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I was going to suggest replacing your xorg.conf with a default one, but Ive got a feeling I read somewhere the xorg.conf has been depreciated in the latest versions.. Im not sure off hand, but I will have a look around today for you if no-one else has managed to sort it for you.
JJonas Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 I have sorted it I just want an easier way of sorting it.
ahuxham Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I have sorted it I just want an easier way of sorting it. dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg dpkg-reconfigure compiz etc etc. Reconfigure packages to an original state. May have to thrown in a dpkg-reconfigure --force xserver-xorg etc.
