We're thinking along the lines of buying Office 2007 on select as we're currently on Office 2003 then also buying Windows 7 and Server 2008 outright as well (as soon as available). This should give us at least 5-7 years before we need to buy a new client OS and a good few years before we need to update Office.

Our school is not expanding so I don't foresee us buying many extra PC's only replacements, we are also rolling out more Citrix clients so our full Windows client numbers should decrease.

Am I missing any major pitfalls here?

Opinions please?

Thanks.

I was just thinking as per usuall we could skip an Office version so we could use 2007 until 2013 but I could wait and then buy out on 2010. I'm really hoping that but the time 2007/2010 needs updating we can make our move to OO.

The CALs and server OS aren't all that expensive so I was thinking just buy them and the next server update is a couple of years away.

Its abit of an office XP to 2003 type of upgrade, i've just licenced for 2007 its cheap at the moment when the office 2010 select licences are out you will be paying another £10 per machine i suspect.
