Can anyone give me a simple run through please on what I need to do to stop students changing settings such as desktop settings. One little year 5 darling managed to rotate the CRT screen recently and others seem to spend too much time changing backgrounds etc :!:. Win 2K server and Win XP Pro Workstations.

Yeh or disable the hotkeys under Display Properties

we had a few old Crts that used to do this through keytboard before they actually logged in can't remember exact but think it was either ctrl and arrow keys or ctrl>alt and arrow keys.

but this should do the trick they get a little fed up after a time especially when you show them how to put it back again within a couple of seconds. Its the intel graphics controller that you have to disable through gpo forgotten which one but might remember will post when i do OK

I suspect you using Intel onboard graphics. Are using a i810 chipset?

This has a utitilty for changing resolution and screen orientation amongst other things.

I think you just need to disbale the executable htkeycmd.exe

either via Software Restriction Polcies or removing it from the RUN key i.e. from

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run

If you don't mind the excersie you can also disable the hotkey handdling
