In another marketing shocker, Microsoft are offering $10,000 in a competition open only to users of IE8.

 

You have to love the way they put "It's not a stupid as it sounds" on the bottom of the page...

Seems reasonable - Microsoft want people to try out IE8 and see what they think of it. If they try it, then they get a chance to win some money and Microsoft get feedback on what people think of the browser.

 

Go round any supermarket and you'll see products with competitions and coupons - you can only join in if you get the product.

The hypocrisy isn't reasonable though, and neither is the lack of a 'no purchase necessary' clause (probably negligible on a 'free' browser, but I resent the inability to choose which tools to enter the competition with).
