For some reason, Windows 7 can't see that I've got a widescreen monitor (Acer AL2216W) and only gives me 4:3 screen resolutions. Any suggestions?

It could be a driver question as it is just using the "Generic PnP Monitor" drivers, but so is my Vista PC which can see it as widescreen. Also, I couldn't readily see how to update the drivers in Win7 (possibly being blind, though)

Yeah, I'm thinking it is my graphics card drivers - I've added the drivers for the monitor, but it still only offers 4:3 resolutions. I tried updating the graphics card (onboard Intel) drivers, however there is nothing newer than XP available.

Annoying really, as I am tempted to put Win7 on my main PC since the apps I use all work on it (even SIMS!), so the only sticking point is getting the right screen size. I don't really fancy putting it on my main PC only to find that one doesn't work either, and then have to re-image it again.

Tried that, sted - it tells me the resolution is not supported.

The adapter is definitely capable of serving up my preferred resolution, as it does it in XP.

Hmm what model is your inteli gcard?

No vista drivers? If not then I am pretty sure its because intel were going to drop support for old cards in vista/7 because there were going to be lots of issues I *think*

EDIT: What actual driver are you using XP ones or build in ones that came with 7? what is it listed as?
