ex-RAID drive return to normal size?

Ok, can't find a thread for this one but I just know there has to be one out there that I'm not using the right keywords for.

 

Here's the deal...

 

I have a hard drive which has been sat in a RAID 10 array until recently when it reported it had failed. Once I'd swapped it out I had a hunch that it might actually be recoverable but in dire need of TLC so I plugged it in to my Oh' so useful hard drive caddy and it's being recognised as the correct drive type but obviously still thinks it's part of the original RAID array so it's reporting an incorrect drive size in the Computer Management.

 

Before I go off half cocked I was wondering if any sage type wise words were available that would help me get this drive back to "normal" again.

 

The drive details are:

 

Brand: Samsung

Model: HD501LJ

Cap: 500GB

Could be worth a try if the RAID controller has rewritten the capacity tags on the drive:

or one of these

have not tried either but they look like the right kind of thing.

Finally got to the point where I was going to try this but when I plugged the drive in I got the head click-click-click-click that says it all..

 

Seems the drive really was toasted after all...

 

Thanks for the tips though Synack.. I've stored that one for future reference.
