Morning guys,

We are currently getting our orders for IWBs throughout the schoo. We are keeping a number of Active boards but the majority of our boards will be SMART.

We have some of the old voting pads for Prometien and I don't really like them, pain to setup ect and never really used.

does anyone have any experience in using other types of voting pads like turning point etc.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tony,

In my previous school we had a few sets of the Qwizdom Q4's and Q5's. In the original software releases they were a bit of a pain, but once they'd sorted that they were much easier to setup (plus there was a nice little plugin that allowed you to create content in powerpoint). We had similar problems in that only a few teacher's would use them and as a result the sets were permanently located in their respective classrooms, but then this is more a training issue than quality of the hardware.

The newer ActivExpression pads from promethean are really easy to setup. You don't need to do each pad like you used to do with the activote pads. You only need to put the USB receiver thingy into the main computer to install it, then the pads themselves just work.

I've put in about 8 sets of these in different schools and, touch wood, never had any problems with them.

One thing you may want to do though if you do get them is that they come with a torx type screwdriver so make sure it's kept in a safe place for when the batteries need replacing.
