smokeshat Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I have two linkstations both with share called Media both with a user account of user, when connecting to them one requires a password and the other does not. Both where bought at same time, I have tried to set a blank password but the linkstation will not allow it. firmware version is same on both 2.16. I know these things can be a real pain in the arse but unfortunatley I'm stuck with them they were purchased by previous techy.any one got any ideas.
lafleur1977 Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 We have buffalo terastations (not sure how simular) but you should be able to log in using a browser (turn off proxy). default username is admin i think, not sure on the password though. There should be a disc with them you can install a utility that will probably help, or you may get it from the website. They are awful things and we have two, fortunately we got a server to replace them last year so now we just backup to them. Hope that helps
smokeshat Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 Thanks for the reply but unfortunatley they are not same. I have no problem logging on to browser or any access at all I just want to know if on a share it is possible to set a blank password on an account called user.
MicrodigitUK Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Go into the web frount end and in the menu select "Shared Folders". Select the yellow icon for the share you whant to remove the password from. And under Access Restrictions select Disable.
