Curious to know if anyone else is using the DMC (replacement to IT Assistant) on their networks? What do you think of it and how are you using it?

 

At the moment I'm not overly impressed by it, but I'm hoping given it's based on Altiris, I can utilise the Altiris features and make it do what I want it to do.

We have tried it and ditched it as it is soooo slow and cumbersome. It also caused a few other issues on the server.

 

Handy for changing BIOS settings, but not much else.

 

Have you stuck with it or found something else?

I haven't touched it for ages - basically the same reason.

 

We virtualised it... not that that was supported with them... but it was horrendously slow, 4gb of ram... I never did find all the PC's on the domain either... but half of that is our domain has just over 2000 pcs (over a 1000 don't actually exist anymore).

 

I might go back and revisit it at some other time, but I think if you just install the OMCI stuff on clients, you can still use the BIOS settings... not verified that theory though - it's sjust a script so why not?
