Exchange 2003 > 2007

Hi,

 

In a test environment i have done an upgrade from an Exchange 2003 install to Exchange 2007. I followed this guide - Transitioning from Exchange 2000/2003 to Exchange Server 2007 (Part 3)

 

On the old exchange 2003 worked fine but i am getting the following bounce message when i try to send a message:

 

Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:

 

'[email protected]'

Your message wasn't delivered because of security policies. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.

 

The following organization rejected your message: mx.google.com.

 

and nothing is coming in.

 

I am not sure if the bounce message is to do with it being a dynamic IP but what about coming in?

 

I dont need to change any public DNS setting as they where already set for the old box and i have set the firewall to forward to ports to the new server.

If you are looking to upgrade your main exchange then you may want to wait a bit for Exchange 2010 to save upgrading twice

I've seen this where a smarthost wasn't configured and the originating IP was listed on a blacklist causing the mail to be rejected.

 

Mind you, if you're not getting inbound either it suggests there's something further awry.

 

Can you lay out how your domain/mail is set up? IE, do the MX point directly to the exchange box itself, is there an smtp hand off or? Outbound is there a smarthost or do you connect directly?

Could be the recipent policies needing a refresh?
