Bootmgr corrupt

I have a computer that won't boot to windows. It reaches the windows splash screen but then reboots.

 

I tried to run the XP disc but it won't get past 'setup is starting windows'.

 

If I try and run WDS to deploy it's orginal image to see if that fixes it I get the error 'BOOTMGR image is corrupt'.

 

I put the hard drive in an identical spec computer and it boots to windows fine. The hard drive from the known good computer doesn't work in the machine in question, it does the same as its original hard drive.

 

I'm hoping it's not a problem with the motherboard as it isn't under warranty anymore.

Tried swapping the memory between the two machines?

Usually problems like this occur because the memory has become faulty. Download the ultimate boot CD from here... Ultimate Boot CD - Overview and run the latest version of Memtest on it to test it.

Thanks! Swapped the memory between the two machines and the fault carried over.

 

Usually memory is one of the things I'd test but it didn't occured to me on this occasion so thanks for the suggestion!

 

Sorted the machine with replacement RAM and everything is working great now!
