Hi there,

I'm in a lucky position in that the whole of the IT network is going to have a major overhaul.

Myself and a few Senior Team staff would really appreciate a visit to a school that has undergone this kind of transformation.

We are very interested in a Thin client setup with some fat clients needed for heavy duty apps.

I have little knowledge on thin clients (on anything some would say :)) and I would be intrigued to see how they perform in a classroom environment.

We are in Cumbria so would appreciate a visit Manchester northwards and Glasgow south.

Many Thanks

Hi Teejay,

Thanks for that, I already have and he has a school in mind which I will propose to the senior team. They wanted me to do a broadcast in any case and I think they are wanting to see a school without any salesman present for now. It's a nervy time for them and the school was badly stung some years back.

Cheers

Outpost,

We are based in York and have a good few number of Terminal Clients connecting to terminal servers.

We also have 70 Blade PC's linked to Terminal Clients.

All of our systems connect back to a VMWare cluster.

Your more than welcome to come across and have a look

Dan

@Outpost: Feel free to come to Lancashire and visit me... not too far for you. I have a bit of everything - fat clients, thin clients (Citrix XenApp), remote access (Citrix Secure Gateway), server virtualisation (Citrix XenServer), BlueSocket wireless, Sun Storage 7110s, Windows, Linux, Mac...

I will also be adding some Sun Ray 2 thin clients over the break too - virtualised Solaris to connect to the XenApp farm :D

Anyone got a more hetrogenous network?

Hi Outpost,

We're currently going through exactly the same process as yourselves, as in, we're having our entire server backend ripped out in the summer and replacing all our curriculum PC's.

Although I can't be much help with regards showing you an option for your solution, i'd be more than happy to discuss with you the processes we've gone through in order to get to the point where we are.

  • Thanks 1
