Is anyone using NeDi to monitor their network?

I've installed Nedi and am having a play with it.

It all started out as a bunch of scripts to retreive the MAC-Address tables off switches and display where nodes are connected to the network. Now, 352 years later it's still a bunch of scripts, but retrieving a whole lot more stuff and displaying even more information than what's ever been retrieved before...or something like that!

 

Seems to be a nice complimentary system to Nagios/Cacti.

It does indeed look interesting... maybe one to add to the list once I've reconfigured Nagios, Nagvis, Cactii, GLPI, OCS-NG... (I'm a busy man!)

That sounds very similar to my todo list! This does look like yet another useful tool to add to my growing collection of network + server monitoring tools

One little hiccup I noticed. The included definitions didn't cover my HP kit (2610,2650,2810 & 4204vl). So I have to cook up my own before they would be detected correctly.

I looked at NeDi previously but as we use mainly ProCurve kit found it didn't do what I wanted it to. I've ended up writing my own PHP scripts to map our networks by obtaining the LLDP info from each switch via SNMP which it then outputs to XML (among a load of other info). The XML can then be used to produce topology maps, configs for new switches, snapshotting a LAN over time using cron etc.(just about anything really) - all works really well

But NeDi supports LLDP... Here is my 4204vl for example..
