iSCSI and VSS

I'm having a few issues with limited storage at the moment until my new servers arrive. So I've built a NAS box to be used as an iSCSI target.

 

I've added an additional 100GB to the server as a new HDD/Partition (L: DRIVE)

 

I've enabled shadow copies on the D: (DATA) partition and the snapshots are stored on the L: Drive.

 

However, after weeks of 2 good snap shots a day - a reboot to the server disconnects the iSCSI target. When the server starts up, Microsofts iSCSI initiator re-establishes the connection but the drive need's to be manually initialised/activate again before it appears as the L Drive. As a result, the D drive's volume shadow copies target default from the L drive back to itself (D) and all snap shots are lost.

 

Is there anyway to automatically active the iSCSI drive?

Ah think i've fixed it. Had to delete the iSCSI partition > Convert it to a Basic Disk - apparently that works.

 

I'll reboot tonight and see if it reactivate on it's own.

It's possible to reactivate it from the commandline so I guess some sort of script could be used as well.
