printers not printing

I would like to pick some technical brains if I may.

 

I have 2 laptops, connected to 2 different printers, and both have the same fault.

 

They try to print, and it says that the printer is either out of ink, or the printer goes offline. These 2 laptops have been imaged with the same image as the rest of the laptops in the school, and other laptops work perfectly, so I know the fault does not lay with the image (we have different laptops, so they have different images due to drivers, but same software on each image).

 

The 2 printers that are having the problem with the laptops are a Canon Pixma ip4000R, and HP D2360.

 

They work perfectly fine when other laptops are connected, but not these two.

 

I have taken the drivers off, and put them back on, connected them locally, connected them via network and still no joy. Its important as they are for the head and the deputy head. They have no problems printing to other printers in the school which odd.

 

The 2 laptops are a Dell and an Acer (unsure of models as we have alot of both around the school). Anyone got any ideas?

with latest network card drivers for both laptops ( for both the wireless and wired RJ45 connections ) ?

 

Also for at least the hp printer if you go to properties and go to the ports tab and un tick the bi directional support tick box does that help ?

 

Are these both network printers or are they connected via usb or what exactly ?

Both have been updated in terms of drivers for all hardware on the laptops.

There is 1 in the heads office, which is local to the head, but networked for the deputy

There is 1 in the deputys office, which is local to the deputy, but networked for the head

 

When local, they are connected via USB, when networked they are connected via Network Cable.

I have done them the other way round also, but no joy.

Not sure if this will help at all but with network printers there tends to be firmware updates for the printer itself so might be worth a shot ( obviously read the read me file that comes with the firmware and its vital you make sure its the correct firmware for your exact model of printer !! )

Got the canon working, turns out the tiny chip on the ink didnt register so I cleaned it properly and it works fine, but the HP is still a bit dodgy, as in now whenever the person clicks print, it turns the printer to offline
