DHCP leases at 100%

Hi all

 

We have two DHCP servers on our network, situation in two physically different locations (but both on the same fibre backbone), and each has roughly the same number of IP addresses to issue. Can anyone think of a reason as to why one of them should be running at 100% issued and the other at 50%? Intriguingly, the one at 100% is the lower spec machine.

 

Apart from a little slowness at logon, it doesn't seem to be causing any major headaches... for the moment...!

Which DHCP server is used is determined pretty much at random - you have no control over it. The client puts out a request across the entire network for DHCP services. The first server to respond wins and supplies the address. In this case the 100% full lower spec machine.
