SimpleSi Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Your site is what I'd call a "quiet" one. If its going to stay that way, then just leave well alone. If there are plans to make it buisier then create a new 1.5 site and just copy and paste the existing info (as there's not much there) and re-do the template. regards Simon 1

SimpleSi Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Well, if your web knowledge is a bit low, I'd suggest trying to create a site on a local webserver first and once you've got it working locally it is relatively easy to upload it to your real website using an extension called Joomlapack. I use something called Uniform Server to host my test websites on my local machine but there are many others. So basically, install a local webserver, download the latest Edugeek Joomla Package and start playing Come back if you need help doing the install or check out the other threads/wiki regards Simon 1
mossj Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) I think that template was even part of an older J1.5 edugeek package (back when I first started posting) IT might still be hanging around if you ask one of the admins... Then its just a case of copy/pasting the info into the edugeek package, and placing your logo files into the relevent place... Is that the website is currently hosted on a local machine and the rosebridge url (which i think is from our council) is just being redirected to our web server. So will i just need a normal work station to give it a go? Thanks Peter

Thanks Peter Yes a XP machine will do, install WAMP, download which ever Joomla package you want EduJoomla is good;) follow this guide and you should be up and running in 10 minutes:D 1

Its basically copying the new website across using FTP and then running a configuration routine that takes 2 mins. But just before you do that, I'd recommend taking a backup of the old site first regards Simon 1
