This post is manly for west norfolk schools but anyone with LP Plus may be able to help:

I'm needing to impliment a help desk sort of thing to manage work - is there something within LP Plus that is already setup which allows job logging and assigning and managing tasks?

If there isn't anything, what are other people using (would almost certainly have to be free or extreamly cheap)?

Thanks

Morning Dan,

Talk to Tom @ our LP+ support or Steve Fox at Terrington St. Clements. There's been an LP+ style HelpDesk on his school area for a good few months mate.

I just use an ordinary sharepoint list with columns carefully chosen as shown below, and a custom default view showing staff "unresolved" (to indicate how busy we are - ie how much I have on) cases and any cases logged by themselves regardless of status.

"possible fix time" is for me to put in when the room's free

We have LP+ and if you go to create a new site.

Under Template selection you should be able to choose Application Templates > IT Team Workspace.

This is the closest to a help desk I have seen that comes with sharepoint.

It has downsides and I didn't end up using it myself - but it may be enough for what you want.

I'd already got mine up and running before that became available / widely known about

Just tried creating a page on LP Plus and almost screwed the whole thing up - trying this one from ben but the freeware version

I hope these things save time in the end cos I guess it's going to take a while to get it running

Dan,

Simon is running the same one at KES and I am a beta tester for it so we can help you if you get stuck.

I believe there is a free trial but otherwise you will have to convince the powers that be to give you some money.

Having a helpdesk is a crucial thing for us these days.

Ben
