Folder Redirection My Documents Mandatory Profile

HELP!!

 

 

I know this has been raised before but the replies havnt yet solved my problem.

 

I am trying to redirect my documents to a share on the server, currenty the students access their work folder through a mapped network drive.

 

Im trying to redirect to the students work folder

I have tried:

\\servername\work$\%username%

\\servername\f$\work folders\%username%

I have tried the mapped network drive.

 

I keep getting an error saying permissions on the computer restrict access. I have checked the event viewer getting the message that it has failed to redirect with an invalid path.

 

I have ensured that all permissions are correct on the users home folder and also the share.

 

I have unchecked the grant user permissions box in group policy.

 

Anyone had a simular error, is there something obviously wrong.

 

The redirections work fine using the same UNC paths.

 

Any support would be great.

Sorry if you have checked this, it isn't totally clear in your post, but have you checked the Share permissions as well as the NTFS?

 

I am sure you know already: the share permissions work in conjunction with the NTFS permissions on a sort of "least access wins". For example, if the user only has read share permissions no amount of tweaking the NTFS permissions will allow write access.

 

Could you post any screenshots of the permission windows that you have set?

Actually, scratch what I said above; I have re-read your post and you do state you have checked all permissions. Sorry!

 

Anyway, can you access \\servername\work$\%username%, after you have logged in, manually? Of course substituting the username in.

 

Can you copy the event viewer error?

 

What paths are the mapped drives connecting to?

 

No doubt I'll think of some more questions as soon as I hit the Post button.

I've had this - where are you re-directing from and to? Check the full error message in event viewer for details of this. Check RPoS via GPResult to see how your GPO is impacting on the user. There may be another GPO that is somehow skewing what you think should be happening. Are you Moving existing files to the new location? On the same tab as Grant Exclusive Rights to.

Sorry if you have already done this, just thinking off the top of my head.
