Where do you get (compatible where possible) toners etc. from? I've been using Concita.com for a while, but ths year I want to put a bulk order in to last most of the year, so I want to put it "out to tender" as it were.

I don't know if any of the EduSponsors do consumables, but if you do and you'd like to send a competitive quote, I need:

Quantity Cartridge / Toner

4 Brother fax 1940 CN 4pk

4 Brother fax 1940 CN black

13 HP 1018 black

5 Epson R265 Full set

5 Epson C1100 black

4 Epson C1100 cyan

4 Epson C1100 magenta

4 Epson C1100 yellow

5 Samsung ML1520 Black

1 Samsung ML4500 Black

4 Xerox Phaser 6110 cyan

4 Xerox Phaser 6110 magenta

4 Xerox Phaser 6110 yellow

4 Xerox Phaser 6110 black

Cheers!

May be worth talking to Tony at Cartridge World in Kendal. He does all ours and they give up an excellent service, taking away all the empties and remanufacturing them for us.

We may be looking at changing suppliers, although we use UK laser supplies. They sort us out by buying us beer, oh and supplying orginal's at re-manufatured prices...

Rather than getting bog standard cartridges I'd recommend going for a CIS system plus add in a waste ink tank.

Of course I'm biased :) but your costs on the printer(s) would drop through the floor after the initial outlay. The point of the waste ink kit is that it allows you to reset the waste ink counter and deal with the waste with minimal hassle and cost.

I have the waste ink kit covered here and the information for getting the necessary protection counter reset too.

As for the CIS I'd recommend rihac.co.uk for support and instructions. I've worked on a number of problems with the boss for a few years now and he's very knowledgeable and has excellent troubleshooting tips.

Oooh tempting... good thinking outside the box :)

but the thought of putting a colostomy bag on an R265 may just be a leap to far for now ;) that and someone's quoted me £14.65 for a full set of compatibles for it :)

:D:D Yeah... had that comment off and on... There is a box version too ;) In your situation I'd have said to go for the box because it's minimal maintenance but in a school environment I think a little heavy duty velcro tape would definitely be in order to keep it in place.

Yeah, that's good but have you considered that you get about 11ml in one cartridge and a lot of that gets wasted with on/off, head cleans, etc... A CIS costs around £40 + ink and after half way through the ink the system has paid for itself.

T'is just a thought but then there is the maintenance side of things... Personally having used CIS's for 6+ years now I'm glad I went the route...

Anyhoo... the waste ink thing is something you'll hit eventually so keep it in mind... There's no sense in throwing out a perfectly good printer.
