Looks only US based. So support looks extremely poor, no telephone number either.

What MIS system are you currently using? What type of school are you? Do you have do Census?

To me it looks like a dream, unless you're an extremely small private school.

Need a solution for a small private school, with about 100 students 11 staff. Yes census is done. Currently no MIS system in place, basically use a access database with spreadsheets. Implementation shouldn't be problem . I just wanted to know if any other schools are using it. The MIS provider Open Solutions for Education | OS4ED does look professional.

I have had a look at the following Focus/SIS, The SchoolTool Project, Centre SIS, FreeMIS but not really impressed.

How much do you think something like SIMS should cost.

Any other suggestion?

Don't know. I would say a few £ per student. Bromcom might be another options. I believe they can now do Census, RM also, some others too.

If you do get SIMS, don't pay Capita to set it up, it's not worth it. Unless they're going to import everything for you. I know they used to do this quite alot not so sure anymore. Easiest thing would be to create CTF for all the students.

Needless to say, I think that you should have help in setting things up! SIMS is a very sophisticated, integrated solution and there are a number of concepts that you will need to understand if your school is to get the best out of the system.

Have you tried the new SIMSinst?! Tis lovely.

Yes, I do agree you might need help creating a new school db and possibly importing the data. But to be honest I think your guys charge a bit much for this service. You documentation is rather good, perhaps you might want to send him over before he decides.
