MatthewL Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Just been sent an email asking what hard drives are in the OptiPlex 520, 745, 755 and 760's? I know they are all SATA just not sure on makes and sizes can anyone advise, I am not in a position to check any machines out as I am at a site and I need to know for this afternoon if anyone does know, if not its no great deal, they will just have to wait till next week! Thanks
Butuz Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 (edited) Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 3.5" Drive in the Dell Optiplex 760 i have on my desk here! Butuz Edited March 19, 2009 by Butuz
AngryTechnician Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 They all take standard-size 2.5" drives (i.e., not laptop drives). The exact brands vary over time but they are typically Western Digital Caviar drives at the moment. Capacity will be entirely dependant on the machine. The 755s we bought last year came with 160GB drives as standard - if you have the serial tags of the machine you can check what they shipped with on the Dell support site.
MatthewL Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 Thanks for answers above. Next question is which of the above have SATA 1 and which have SATA 2?
broc Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 The 80gb drives in our most recent batch of Optiplex 760s are Western Digital, in reality I suspect DELL uses whatever they can get hold of at the time.... we have had WD, Seagate, Maxtor & Samsung in our DELL desktop systems over the years....
MatthewL Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 Cheers for you help, all sorted now. Just for a note all machines support SATA 2 including the GX520 Dell told me.
