user not syncing with time server

hey ppl, I have my master DC set as the primary time server. All but one WinXP/SP2 workstation does not sync with the time server. When I'm at the workstation and run the 'net time \\' command, it returns with 'Current time at \\'... 'Local time (GMT-04:00) at \\'.

 

first, why both 'Current time' and 'Local time'?

second, the time server is set to GMT-05:00(in Adjust Date/Time from system tray), not GMT-04:00 ???

 

Also, when I'm at the workstation and run the 'net time /set' command it comes back with a different server(a remote GC server at a different building). It should be displaying the 'primary' time server right?

 

should I apply the DST patch although it's running SP2. Maybe install SP3?

what should my time server settings in the registry be if setting it up as 'internal' time server? I'm thinking maybe the time server might be setup wrong.

The workstation needs to be a member of the domain to automatically pick up the DC as time server.

 

To apply a manual fix, run:

 

net time /setsntp:dc1 dc2 myotherdc lastdc

 

Then restart the Windows time service on the workstation

thanks for the reply. the workstation is a member of the domain and I did apply the manual fix that you recommended, which came back 'successful', and restarted the service but no go. The workstation is pointing to the correct time server when I run 'net time /querysntp'.

fixed. I installed the MS dst fix for the XP workstation. I guess I thought if the time server was patched and time set correctly the workstations would auto set their time by the server's time. guess not:rolleyes: as a note: the dst fix should be applied to XP with SP2 & SP3.
