Has anyone else had issues with the latest version of the AB tutor client with WinXP SP3?

The "ABClient" service never starts with windows, if you login and manually start it its fine.

Anyone run in to this problem?

I installed the other day, no problems this end ;)

The suite we installed AB in is running XP SP3

Interesting... I wonder if there is something blocking it on the computer start up...

Humm even more interesting... After looking at the logs for the ABt Client it was a support program called "restart" in the ABControl folder that shutdown the service and never restarted it again.

I wonder what restart.exe does? And why does ABt need to stop and start the service several times during a computer shutdown...

Restart most likely detects when the ABCONTROL process is shut down, and loads it back up again. Something I always forget when I attempt to kill it in Task Manager...

After a quick phone call to AB Soft i've found out that several other people have reported issues with ABt with SP3 - but only recently...

A recent windows security update that buggers ABt perhaps?

Hello All

Although the majority seem to be running fine, we have a few people reporting the service not starting with SP3. We are still trying to find out the root cause but some people have reported that if you de-install and then re-install the client (manually) it works fine.

To help us identify the problem, could I ask anyone with this issue to e-mail us the 'debug.log' file located in the 'C:\Program Files\ABControl\Log\' folder on the remote machine. This may give us some pointers.

Thanks for your help.

Worked fine here when I tested it. Not got any AB6s installed right now though, thinking of upgrading when we decide who's paying!

Not sure I'm keen on the inbuilt key logger...

I have had several problems with it on sp3 - crashing when logging in as admin for example.

One of my terminal servers borked so that I coiuldnt rdp in on the console and ts users were crawling - had to log in on another session. Strangely, uninstalling and then clean installing it fixed (all mine were client upgrades from the a tutor control panel).

Problem I have now is that on one of my labs, it thinks one of the machines is another machine in a different room and access that one when watching etc. (only get this problem when accessing it from within a group - when scanning all, it acesses both the machine in the room and the one in the other room fine).
