URGENT: Need software for scanning computers for software installed on them

please can someone suggest some FREE software that can scan the computers on my network and see what software is installed and tell me how many copies are on the network etc?

 

Need details of all software on network and relating documents by the end of today:confused:

If you need the data ASAP Spiceworks is probably the easiest as there is no client-side configuration needed. Quite amazing the way it works.

 

A side note (not as ar$ey as it probably sounds!) would be that a properly managed network should be restricted to allow only authorised application installs. Normally a 'Network Manager' (or similar person) would be responsible for keeping license records.... I.E the IT team should be able to accurately say what is running on their network without having to go out and scan.

I'm working on putting a properly managed network in in the background but need to keep the limping until new one ready to impliment. currently no software is installed using AD through MSI's - all installed onto a hard disk and cloned

Spiceworks is your best bet, will give you an inventory of software, AV (including if its uptodate or not), hardware, switches, printers (and there toner levels), and even IP phones I think.

 

Oh and its all free but does advertise on the admin interface (banner (like edugeek), no popups)

 

Theres even a way to put all you licenses into it and it will tell you how much over you are and on which software.

I Love this SpiceWorks - gives you so much info... haven't yet got great details on what software is about as it's saying 6 copies of office are install on 160 computers but it's doing a second scan atm so hopefully more info to come
