Out of warranty printer.

 

Now started printing horizontal lines down any print & the print smudges when u touch it!.

 

Any ideas? Fuser??

 

Have looked on HP support page, but pretty useless unless im being dumb!

Laser printed pages smudge when you touch them? It sounds like the fuser is faulty - it isn't heating up enough to melt the toner on to the page. It could need cleaning - when the chap came to look at our 4600N the other day he simply cleaned the fuser with a squirt of isopropal alcohol and a wipe with a cloth.

Sounds like the fuser to me if the toner isn't fusing. Can always try swapping one from another printer if you have two of the same model to prove it to yourself.
