nc- Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Hi, We have had an issue with our build area for over a week now. We have 2 issues not sure that they are related. 1. building from server 1 we get this error. Badly formed IP address, then straight after it says server cannot been found. (this is after it tests network connection in the dos). 2. building from server 3 we get this error. makec.vbs cannot be found. this is after windows is installed ad it starts to set the RM security settings. any ideas?
rusty155 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 For the first issue, check that your lmhosts file on the server is pointing to the correct server and IP address. It should contain the ip addrees and server in the following format: 192.168.1.1 server-name If that is wrong, change it to the correct values, save it and recreate your build disks, making sure they point at the right server also!
rusty155 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 In case you're wondering, the lmhosts can be found in \\server-name\rmrebuild\build manager\rm\source (forgot about that bit sorry:D)

rusty155 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Have you tried with a variety of machines, and connected to a different area of the network?
kmount Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Raised a support call with RM? I assume server2 works fine?
nc- Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Raised a support call with RM? I assume server2 works fine? A support call has been raised. Server 2 doesn't seem to have a build area.
kmount Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I'd be inclined to chase this with RM as a high priority call as they'd normally resolve something like this over the phone with you. (I assume you've tried taking a back up of one of the affected build areas and restored a copy of it before this problem arose?)

The build area hasn't been right since they installed the new server. they just mirror from the old one. RM have been working on it for a week and a few separate engineers have looked (using logmein). no solution yet though.
kmount Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Raise a complaint over it. Mind you, if they merely replaced a server that wouldn't break it on the other one. (hence why one needs to install HSPs and RMBM on each server).
