tom_newton Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) Hi US folks! We SmoothWall types have recently opened an office in your wonderful country (Charlotte, NC), and have been doing the rounds of education expos from coast to coast, and a few places in between. One thing we have found is that not all are suited to "IT tech" people, and a lot of them are showing interactive smartboards (or insert latest buzzword here) and so forth, and as such are attracting teachers rather than techs. If you can let me know any expos or gatherings that you attend, which we may be interested in exhibiting at, i'd be most grateful, and if we end up going we will surely take you out for a beer when we get there to say thanks Tom Edited March 11, 2009 by tom_newton

itschad Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I think the best one around is the NECC that is in D.C. this year. I believe I met someone from your company in San Antonio last year. I would recommend going to the WV West Virginia State Technology Conference It is a small conference however pretty well attended by the state due to its central location. We were one of the first few to go to a Wide Area Network and I think many in the state are now moving. The firest thing I tell everyone of them is to make sure they have a filtering appliance as well as a packetshaper. You guys may need to talk to me sometime. We are using a Sonicwall but the price is begining to get at us now on the upgrades. 1
tom_newton Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Thanks! We will be attending NECC for the 3rd time this year. If you'd like to speak to one of our US-based folk, or arrange a free evaluation do give them a call: 1 800 959 3760 or drop me an email and I will make sure your details get to the right people
Lostsoul125 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 The thing about tradeshows, expos, and what not, I realize not a lot of goers are IT people. A lot of the attendees happen to be people who thoroughly love and enjoy technology, but are working else where, or that they don't have that decision making power.
tom_newton Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Lostsoul: we find that, yes.. but those folk can be good to talk to in any case. Come and visit us at NECC in Washington anyway if you're going
qcomer Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Check out CETPA. CETPA - California Educational Technology Professionals Association. They have a large conference every year for CA k-12 techs. 1
rpmoore Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Thanks qcomer - we do CETPA every year. One of the best dates in the calendar
