Change 'Color Quality' via GPO?

Is it possible to change the 'color quality' in display properties from a group policy object? I want to change from 16Bit to 32bit and back for some machines, but have come up blank trying to search for solutions.

 

Even if this is not possible with GMPC can this be done with registry changes or other alternatives?

Looks like it is in a different place for each system because it is set under the video card GUID and per moniter. Could use a logon file to configure it though:

I know by default there aren't any GPOs to do this, but DSapseid's link is interesting. If that application can make changes from a command prompt, then maybe, just maybe, you could write a custom GPO so you could do this?

Didnt have it to hand last night but this is what i have as a startup script for every desktop pc on my network.

 

Just put the batch file in the same location as the qres.exe and it will set the machines to 1024x768 and set it to 32bit

 

qres.exe /x 1024 /y 768 /c:32

'Qres' is an excellent program, you can run it as a batch file at logon etc, another program that might interest you is 'toggleres' which you can use to make an icon on your desktops to 'toggle' between two resolutions.

you can then let users decide on their two fav desktop configs

I looked at changing the registry but obviously different video cards meant this would be a pain. I Had already looked at resolution changing programs a while ago for something else and found Display Changer :: 12noonwhich had the benefits of not having to restart the machine after making the changes, and also being able to change the color depth independently of other settings such as resolution. You can also set it for certain programs to which is handy.
