Hi Gang,

I have been using active directory for a long time via a UNC due to the fact that i could never get it to work via http:// - assuming this was not possible i kept on using it poorly all this time.

Recently in another thread i made the comment when someone suggested to use Joomla for active desktop that i was not possible - turns out it is! (to use http://)

I have had some success in my latest run at this - i have a made a webpage that will do all sorts of app launching and retrieve info via jscript etc etc. I now apply this page not as a active desktop wallpaper but rather as a web item.

I now have a new problem - how do you force a web item to take 100% of desktop? Answer - by using a cdf file, which is now not supported by IE7.

My questions to thoes whom are using active desktops sucessfully:

  1. How do you in gpmc setup a http:// active desktop - yes please spell it out if you dont mind
  2. If this is a web item then how do you make it take 100% of desktop to make it a pseudo wallpaper

Thanks greatly in advance!

If you want to use Active Desktop, you must uninstall IE7. IE7 essentially disables Active Desktop working properly. Who knows... maybe IE8 which is only around the corner may allow you to use it again?
