KarlGoddard Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 We have an old install of Accelerated Reader v5.1. To try and fix a particular problem with the app Renaissance Learning's KB recommends upgrading to 5.14. I contacted Renaissance Learning to request the upgrade but was told that 5.1 / 5.14 is no longer supported and they couldn't supply the upgrade (hardly surprising as it runs on NT4!) Does anyone have the 5.14 upgrade? If so I could I have a copy of it? Only other option is to buy the latest version - something the Librarian doesn't want, and probably can't afford, to do Thanks!
Ric_ Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 @kgcs: I'm afraid I cannot help with the upgrade but I can testify that the newer (web-based) version is far superior. There's a little plugin jobby (that you can deploy via GPO) which helps make reports and that is it. Gone are the days of constant hell with Accelerated Reader and STAR Reading.
KarlGoddard Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Cheers Ric Yeah, anything must be better than the version I'm trying (and failing) to keep running I think it's about time the Library bit the bullet and upgraded. It'll also mean goodbye to my trusty NT4 TS box!!

I agree that Accelerate Reader and STAR Reading are hard to deal with. Web based? I'm looking for it on Renaissance Learning—Advanced Technology for Data-Driven Schools and so far I do not seem to find it. Where is it?
