Ayaz Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Really strange problem. Anyone come across this. IE7 closes for no reason. We are an RM CC3 site. Happens to different computers and different users. You can be viewing a website, or webmail or eportal and it will just closes unexpectedly.
amfony Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 sounds like virus activity to me - do full scan of one computer displaying the symptom in safe mode (if XP/2k) and see what u get. Otherwise its pretty weird and youll probably want to uninstall and reinstall IE and see how you go. Let me know how you go.
Ayaz Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 i admit it does appear like virus like behaviour but we have symantec vp 4 with the latest definitions, surely that would have picked anything up?
amfony Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 did u do a scan in safe mode yet? One distinct event that would be telling me if its a virus or instead an incompatibility issue is this: Do you get the error saying "Internet explorer has had to close due to unexpected error etc etc"? If you DONT i call virus. If you DO i suggest keeping an eye on what sites you are actually ging to when it closes - IE is it when flash player is invoked, shockwave, pdf, quickTime ... see what im getting at? HTH
SYNACK Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Have you checked out the event log, IE7 has its own event log catagory. You could also go through and disable all of the addons then re-enable them one by one until the problem resurfaces.
