Anonymous Email

Hi everyone

 

Is there anyway of setting up an email address in Exchange that can forward to another staff member, but in the process, strip the original senders details?

We're starting some "Stop Bullying" campaign and the life skills teacher would like students to be able to email her anonymously and she posts replys on a blog.

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Could a web based form do the job? It wouldn't have to ask the student's name and would send all emails from a specified address, such as the teacher's own.

Would a web page with a mailto: form on it be an option?

I wonder if it would be wise to have students submit anything to do with bullying completely anonymous. and wouldn't allowing anonymous email kind of encourage cyber-bullying?

how about an anonymous forum, which the teacher can control/supervise. There is a moodle module here: http://blogs.reed.edu/moodle/anonymous_forums.zip

there is a log file if you really need to find out who said what.

I'm thinking that a web form might be the easiest, although I realise we are opening ourselves up to abuse, there's nothing we can really do about it.

With a net form you're only opening up the targetted e-mail address to abuse.

The other advantage of the web form is that it might get more use than email.

 

If you do manage to set something up to anonymise emails, the students only have your word for it that their details have been stripped out of it, which would goes against everything they know about how emails work.

 

On a web form, as they're not putting their name in they may be more inclined to believe it is anonymous.
