Anyone seen this type of 404 whilst using Firefox ?

Or can anyone explain why this happens ?

User working away without a problem and then the pages they are using ends up with this....[ see screen shot ] and every other page after appears with this type of error.

I have a fix for it - just delete the profile folder from within the Application Data folder, run Firefox again, it re-creates the file and folder structure and you are working quite happy again. In fact I have a script which does it but I am wondering if anyone else has seen it.

Firefox is ver 3.0.5 but have seen it for previous versions.

Do you mean just on that website? By the looks of the error - it seems the session is expiring on the webserver, time limit?

Not quite, the interesting aspect of this problem is that every page you visit after that or try to enter into the address bar will return that type of page - [ screen shot ] but with the site of the address you have tried to get to in the address bar.

Close FF down and re-launch - same problem. You have to delete the Mozilla dir and sub dirs from the Application folder and then re-launch to get back working again.

It's almost like it's trying to route everything through Google Cache...

Any FF extensions?

No extensions - google.co.uk is the start page so I may change that and see what happens.......

Right, I now understand whats causing this problem - it's the pages:

http://www.google-analytics.com/

http://www.gstatic.com/

I have blocked these so that's a start now I need to knock up a fix for the prefs.js file - [ when you access about:config ] in firefox.

I need to change the network.http.proxy.keep-alive to false - not hard on a single PC as it's a simple double click - I need to do it on all PCs though - anyone done anything similar ?

If anyone gives a flying fig - here is my fix:

Open up FF and go to about:config

Change the network.http.proxy.keep-alive to false

Copy the prefs.js file to a location [ this will be used for other workstations ]

Now on logon this dirty batch file runs:

n:
cd application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\*default
copy "p:\misc\firefox fix\prefs.js" n: /y
exit

When I can be ar5ed I'll stick in a flag so it does not always run + it will run even if the file structure is not there !! Dirty - yes - i'm in a lazy mood.....
