Need more info, is the Ubuntu install on its own or is it part of a multiboot set up?

Did you do anything out of the ordinary on it yesterday before the failure?

Have you tried using the Super Grub disk to either repair the grub install or manually find the right drive to mount?

Is it a multi boot system or a system installed with Wubi at all?

Super Grub disk is on the ultimate boot cd or you can download from their site.
