CentOs Home Server

Hey all, was just wondering what the easiest and most secure of turning a old PC i got doing nothing into a home server on a home network that is not exposed to the internet so I could learn CentOs at my own pace via the linuxtopia ( think it's that?) website.

 

Thanks in advance, and please keep it as simple as possible, so I don't have to ask further for clarification hehehe......

Well I would just install CentOS on the old machine like you would any other OS

And then just access it locally via its local IP, and if you did want to access it outside your network just use the IP address instead of using a Domain Name.

Be aware the link Edutech posted is for CentOS 5.1, 5.2 is available now, very similar but don't be alarmed if some version numbers are different.

5.3 should be available soon. our RHEL servers upgraded a couple of weeks ago, centos will follow.
