Excessive CRC/Alignment Errors on port

Many of my HP Procurve switches are reporting "Excessive CRC/Alignment Errors on port". This has only just stared happening in the last 2 weeks (according to the switch logs). Why would this suddenly start happening to some switches/cabling and computers now, when they have been in place for 18 months now?

 

Also, would the affect logon times.

Any communications errrors will slow down the speed of the link. As the PC/Switch will have to resend the information that didn't make it. The more errors, the slower it gets.

 

The usual cause of this is either:

 

1) Buggy NIC drivers.

2) A physical cable fault.

3) Mismatched speed/duplex settings.

4) Sending tagged VLAN packets to a port that's not expecting them.

Im also getting the same issue. At first i thought it would down to nic drivers but its happening on different models of PC and even printers.

 

I use HP 5406zl Switches with the latest firmware!
